A clinic sending a credential PDF is the start of a check. The document needs to match the person, location and service you are considering. It does not establish that your proposed treatment is appropriate or guarantee a result.
This is an administrative document-reading guide, not a clinical assessment or legal determination. It does not endorse a clinic. A qualified clinician must advise on treatment and clinical suitability.
Separate the person from the premises
Ask for the full name of each treating clinician and the credential number they use. If a credential lists a dentistry degree, do not silently relabel it as proof of a specialty. Ask for the additional evidence supporting an advertised specialty and which clinician performs each stage of your treatment.
Mexico’s professional credential service is an official starting point for checking a cédula. Compare the name, number and program with the clinic’s statements. If the service is unavailable or you cannot resolve a match, record the check as incomplete. Receiving a copy and authenticating it with its issuer are separate steps.
An operating notice and an authorization are different documents
Look at the heading of the facility document. COFEPRIS explains that an aviso de funcionamiento is not itself an autorización sanitaria, although notices can be mandatory. A notice should not be described as proof of an inspection or accreditation. COFEPRIS explanation
Ask the clinic to connect its public brand to the legal entity and premises on the document. Request an explanation of the permissions applicable to the services it proposes, including any separate services or equipment. A mismatch is a question to resolve, not automatic proof of wrongdoing. Ask the relevant authority or a qualified local adviser if the required permissions are unclear.
Keep an evidence log
Use separate statuses so that a document does not become a broader claim:
| Item | What to record | What remains unresolved |
|---|---|---|
| Professional credential | Name, number, program and issuer check date | Specialty evidence if separately advertised |
| Facility document | Document type, entity and exact premises | Applicable permissions and current status |
| Insurance evidence | Insured entity, dates and scope as confirmed | Exclusions and how a patient makes a claim |
| Written warranty | Responsible party, exclusions and required return visits | Who pays for travel and care at home |
Use “received, not independently authenticated” when that is the actual status. Do not publish sensitive identifiers or entire private documents as a substitute for a clear verification summary.
Decide what needs an answer before a deposit
Write down the unresolved points and send one consolidated request. Ask the clinic to correct inconsistent names, identify the treating team and supply written terms. If a key question remains unanswered, keep it visible in your decision rather than turning it into a reassuring checkmark.
Use the cost worksheet after the scope of each estimate is clear. If you need help organizing the administrative questions, request a quote comparison. MxSmiles may receive a referral fee from a partner clinic; that payment must not determine the evidence status.
